MetallurgistPOSITION SUMMARY: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform analysis on product in various stages of the MIM manufacturing process
Work with the quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams to solve problems and make improvements in sintered metals and products
Work with Sintering Process Engineer and Furnace Engineer to improve sintering processes and the quality of sintered metals
Initiate short-and long-term solutions to improve overall sintering performance
Aid in troubleshooting furnace process issues as they affect product metallurgy and assist in implementing corrective actions
Develop new material feedstock and powder metals strategies as required to stay competitive and improve material capabilities
Perform engineering changes conforming to internal quality requirements
Maintains and revises Engineering Documents and Work Instructions as required
As required trains personnel in the proper use and operation of testing equipment and processes
Understanding of customer expectations, assist in customer technical discussions and problem solutions
Preparation of powder metal product specifications (carbon levels, densities, properties)
Create project schedules and management thereof
Represent Parmatech in trade organizations when requested, produce white papers, case studies, and present findings
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Metallurgy or Materials Science. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Metal Injection Molding, Powder Metallurgy or Furnace/Sintering environment.
A thorough understanding of powder metals and metallurgical qualifications of sintered parts
Proficient computer skills, and use of Microsoft Office suite
Ability to manage priorities and workflow
Commitment to excellence and high standards
Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
Solid English language skills both written and oral
Solid understanding of statistical methods
Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in furnace technology and/or thermal processing
Good understanding of metals-forming technologies, with exposure to powder metallurgy, casting, and/or injection molding technologies
Analytical skills to troubleshoot sintered metals and furnace processes
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
Utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
Utilize hand and finger dexterity.
Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work time is divided between office and manufacturing areas, temperatures in the manufacturing area may be warm in summer months and cool in winter months; dust is present and noise level can be moderate to high.
PPE – as required, hearing aids, appropriate footwear and safety glasses.
